If you are going to San Francisco or Paris or London, or indeed anywhere in the world that requires you get on a plane, train or overnight bus, you'll need to pack a suitcase. While this sounds like a simple enough exercise, it can be something of a nightmare.
Remember that not only do you want to maximise space and minimise creasing, you also want to make sure you get through security and don't exceed the weight limit on you chosen mode of transport. In short, you need to adhere to certain parameters in order to succeed and this is easy if you follow a few simple guidelines.
When you're packing, try to arrange your clothes so that shirts go on the bottom of the suitcase, dresses and skirts go on top of these, and then trousers go on the top. Obviously if you're a man, you simply leave out the middle layer.
Keep all shirts that wrinkle easily towards the very bottom of the pile and place them unfolded in your suitcase. Stack less difficult layers on top of these, and deal with any long dresses by draping them across the whole bag so that the ends stick out, packing trousers on top of them and then wrapping the ends over the top of the trousers.
Remember before you leave to research security protocol of you are not already very familiar with it. There are myriad rules that need to be followed with regard to liquids, electronics and items that need to be declared and in order to ensure your trip takes off as smoothly as possible, you want to make sure you have not violated any of these.
